Through the program, NYSERDA offers incentives to encourage the installation of end-use wind energy systems for residential, commercial, institutional or government use. The incentives, of up to $400,000 per turbine, are paid to NYSERDA-determined Eligible Installers who install approved new grid-connected wind energy systems using qualified equipment, in accordance with program eligibility requirements. The maximum equipment size is  600 kW per site/customer. NYSERDA’s incentive shall not exceed 50% of the total installed cost of the system.

NYSERDA reports that since inception, the program

has provided $3.6 million in incentives, leveraging an additional $5.2 million in private investment in residential-based wind power. The projects so far have made it possible for 43 residences, 40 farms, three schools, four businesses, two not-for-profit, and a town to create clean energy and use less energy from the grid.

• Copper Star Alpaca Farm, Millerton, Columbia County — $31,000 NYSERDA investment
• Wayne Phelps Enterprises, Bascom, Genesee County — $156,000 NYSERDA investment
• Ledge Farm, Bascom, Genesee County — $154,000 NYSERDA investment
• Thorndale Livestock, Batavia, Genesee County — $37,500 NYSERDA investment
• Rouges Roost Golf & Country Club, Bridgeport, Madison County — $25,000 NYSERDA investment
• CuPerk Realty, Henrietta, Monroe County — $35,000 NYSERDA investment
• Me T Farms, Ransonville, Niagara County — $37,000 NYSERDA investment
• Barker Farm, Lacona, Oswego County — $58,000 NYSERDA incentive
• Fleming household, Mexico, Oswego County — $28,000 NYSERDA incentive

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today urged the federal government to approve an investment tax credit to build wind turbines in manufacturing sites in Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo and Ogdensburg. The D’Arcinoff Group, a U.S. based company, is looking to operate clean technology manufacturing facilities in 15 plants across the U.S. According to their estimates, the four New York plants could employ up to 15,000 people, working in multiple shifts. If fully financed, Phase One of the project could create upwards of 800 jobs at Syracuse’s New Process Gear facility in DeWitt, 6,000 jobs in Rochester, 2,000 jobs in Buffalo, and 1,200 jobs in Ogdensburg.
