Informal survey: wind turbine maintenance lacking

For filing in in the “ounce of prevention =  pound of cure” cabinet, this article in Renewable Energy World describes an informal survey by a wind O&M (operations and maintenance) service provider that indicates that, well, more wind O&M services need to be deployed.

Regardless of the source, it does appear clear that the wind energy sector has seen explosive growth in recent years and is searching frantically for qualified technicians (unafraid of heights) to service the scores of highly complex machines being erected in New York and nationwide.

Maybe there’s something to that recent think tank report on renewable energy job creation. State job creation and worker training entities and institutions of higher learning take note.
