The Daily Gazette reports that the Town of Duanesburg became Schenectady County’s first municipality to pass a wind siting ordinance. The ordinance has established a bifurcated process, with projects generating 100 KW or less subject to less strict standards.
Larger products reportedly will be subject to an application fee of $500 per MW of nameplate capacity and per the article, “must be 1,500 feet away from residences and a minimum of 500 feet away from public roads or off-site property boundaries.”
The article notes that Rotterdam and Princetown, also in Schenectady County, likewise are reviewing wind siting ordinances.
