Wind has landed in Eagle, N.Y.

An article in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports on some benefits to landowners in Eagle, N.Y. who site turbines on their property, as well as benefits to the town they live in, including:

  • Annual rental payment to the landowner of some $7,000 per turbine
  • No taxes. The article indicates that payments from the wind generating company, Noble Power, to the Town of Eagle have allowed the town to eliminate its town tax.

The article indicates that Noble sited 67 turbines in Eagle in 2007, with a plan to erect 84 more in the area.
